What an exciting night of hockey last night. The first time since the 1920’s (when there were far fewer teams) when every team played in a single night. Gotta love it. It feels like yesterday since the Calgary Flames were inches from beating the blasphemy of the NHL, and current defending Stanley Cup Champions (excuse me as I now vomit)

the Tampa Bay Lightning. And on the dawn (not Dawn) of the new NHL, Tampa Bay hoisted a Stanley Cup banner so large, it becomes increasingly obvious, that they will never, EVER win another Stanley Cup. But it’s ok. Florida really doesn’t have any true relation to the blessed game.
As for the Canucks, the Bert-accu-scoreTM had the Canucks winning 8-2 over Phoenix, where the final score reached last night was 3-2. Well, to start off, a Newmarket boy (yup I played some hockey in Newmarket, Ontario too), Curtis Joseph, was behind the pipes for the Coyotes. Cujo, who used to play for the Make Me Laughs Toronto Maple Leafs, the team that will attract the most negative karma this year, for years and years of spending money for players instead of developing them. The Leafs, the one Canadian franchise NOT hurt by the run and gun free agency system.
As such, the Leafs / Senators game had the lowest shot total (25-23 favouring the Leafs), a game remeniscent of the old era of hockey, where scoring was discouraged. The final score was 3-2 for the Senators, which is a total of five goals. The negative Leaf karma passed through to Cujo, and were able to steal the remaining 5 Canuck goals to give such a boring clutch and grab affair at least a recognizable score, not a score from a football match. As such, balanced perfection to the the Bert-accu-scoreTM. Sheer genius.
As for the next Canucks match, we now have…
*Burp*s from Bert

Ahh, the Canucks will face their first true test of the season, as they play the Edmonton Oilers this Saturday, fresh off of their 4-3 victory off the American-imprisoned Quebec Nordiques. The Canucks, going from Gretzky, now playing Gretzky’s former team. Well, let’s see, the Oilers won 4 cups with Gretzky, and one without. As such, the Bert-accu-scoreTM for the match will be
VANCOUVER 4 - EDMONTON 1
