Yes, it has only been a week since I posted this highly edgy comment. However, in one week, I have gotten more comments on it than I usually do on this whole blog in a week. Also, the hit counter has gone off the normal scale, from the 20 or so hits per day to a one day high of 123. Woo hoo for ratings on this load of tripe.
I feel I must give some backstory here. Back when I lost my blogger’s virginity, I saw the blogs of some of my phrenz, and noticed they had all sorts of wonderful comments praising the tripe they were posting, as it were a new gospel. Not being a social giant, jealousy ensued. Needless to say I had to come to terms that I was not the social butterfly, and posting mindless tripe was not my forte by any stretch of the imagination.
My lack of audience allowed me to post about virtually anything without fear of a flame war existing on my site. Then last week. Whenever I write something positive, nobody pays attention. As soon as I challenge the right wing, every Tom, Dick and Harry from the right come crawling out of the woodwork and try to change my opinion on things in a crusade-like effort. And in the last few weeks, it hit me.
I should take the Howard Stern approach. When he started being himself and not giving a fuck, he got ratings. Now all I need are lesbians. Because Howard learned early, “lesbians equals ratings”.
Though this blog really is for me. As I will be posting a disclaimer, finally, and soon, I will say this. What I say is what I say. You won’t change it, nor be able to get me to remove it. If you don’t like it, go away.
Now, as for what I’m going to enjoy later in the day. One of two films I have been looking forward too all winter. And no, it’s not See No Evil starring Kane.
Obviously, it’s The da Vinci Code. The movie based on a wonderful work of fiction by a great writer, Dan Brown, who makes many claims that are definitavely contadictory to Christian scriptures and the nature of Jesus.
Now, instead of making a load of comments agreeing or disagreeing with either text, I shall just ask a series of questions.
1. If one of the purposes of the bible is to serve as a historical documentation, and Christ is written to be divine, would it not support the divinity notion that his chastity caused outrage in the Jewish community would only continue to support the divine son of the Lord? Or is it that no documentation ever existed. And if none did, was it due to no public outcry to be fruitful and multiply? Or rather that Jesus was being fruitful and multiplying?
2. Why are so many devout Christians in fear of a concept from a work of fiction that of causing a major shift in faith? Is their faith really as strong as they say, or is it a smear campaign to silence contradictory viewpoints?
3. What were da Vinci’s motives in the various paintings discussed in the books? Was he just painting religiously commissioned works for pay, or was there artistic licence within them? Is the point of art to reflect beauty only, or to also inspire individual thought?
I could go on, but I’m sure you should get the point.
That is all.
