I’m a screw up. Try to keep that in mind.

When Democracy fails

Posted by Jeff on Friday, 12 May, 2006

You become America.

Todd sent me this link in an email today, as verification there is no hope left for a democratic society south of the border.

American naysayers will say monitoring virtually every electronic conversation that occurs within it’s borders is just a necessary temporary yield of minor rights to “fight terror”. There are two things wrong with that statement. Freedom of speech is NOT a minor right, as it is one of the outlets that keeps lying politicians at least somewhat honest. With all the surveillance, freedom of speech is overridden by a powerful emotion, FEAR. This leads to the second thing wrong. You can’t fight an emotion, like terror. Any agressive action intended to act against the emotion only creates more fear, which in itself is terrorism.

I just wonder how long it will be until signs like this pop up everywhere in America, but not as Photoshops or jokes:

Big Brother Bush

That is all.
