I’m a screw up. Try to keep that in mind.

Proud to be Canadian… only two days late

Posted by Jeff on Monday, 3 July, 2006

In preperation for American Independence Day, Quotes - Famous Quotes, a WordPress blog, has put up these posts with 4th of July quotes.

To even the balance of power, here are some intriguing quotes regarding Canada:

“Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.”
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

“Canadians have an abiding interest in surprising those Americans who have historically made little effort to learn about their neighbour to the North.”
Peter Jennings

“In a world darkened by ethnic conflicts that tear nations apart, Canada stands as a model of how people of different cultures can live and work together in peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.”
[Now former] U.S. President Bill Clinton

“The US is our trading partner, our neighbour, our ally and our friend… and sometimes we’d like to give them such a smack!”
Rick Mercer

“A prime minister has a unique duty to preserve the integrity of the office. It is not about power. It is about responsibility.”
Jean Chrétien

“I am deeply moved by the warmth and courage of the Canadian people which I felt so strongly during my recent visit to your country. Your support of the struggle against apartheid restored me in my journey home and reassured me that many just people around the world are with us.”
Archbishop Desmond Tutu

“The die is cast in Canada: there are two ethnic and linguistic groups; each is too strong and too deeply rooted in the past, too firmly bound to a mother culture, to be able to swamp the other. But if the two will collaborate inside of a truly pluralist state, Canada could become a privileged place where the federalist form of government, which is the government of tomorrow’s world, will be perfected.”
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

That is all.

Sport can lick my choda

Posted by Jeff on Monday, 3 July, 2006

England lost to Portugal. After trading Bert to Florida, even though Luongo was a good pick up (couldn’t they have traded Morrison instead), Jovanovski, as a free agent, signs with Phoenix. What’s next? The Leafs actually win the cup?

Ugghh. I shudder at the thought.

And here I was wondering why I was happy Smallville is shooting a sixth season. Aside from more film work in Vancouver, I dearly need something to take my mind after the horrible weekend. I should recover around October.

That is all.
