In preperation for American Independence Day, Quotes – Famous Quotes, a WordPress blog, has put up these posts with 4th of July quotes.
To even the balance of power, here are some intriguing quotes regarding Canada:
“Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.”
Pierre Elliott Trudeau
“Canadians have an abiding interest in surprising those Americans who have historically made little effort to learn about their neighbour to the North.”
Peter Jennings
“In a world darkened by ethnic conflicts that tear nations apart, Canada stands as a model of how people of different cultures can live and work together in peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.”
[Now former] U.S. President Bill Clinton
“The US is our trading partner, our neighbour, our ally and our friend… and sometimes we’d like to give them such a smack!”
Rick Mercer
“A prime minister has a unique duty to preserve the integrity of the office. It is not about power. It is about responsibility.”
Jean Chrétien
“I am deeply moved by the warmth and courage of the Canadian people which I felt so strongly during my recent visit to your country. Your support of the struggle against apartheid restored me in my journey home and reassured me that many just people around the world are with us.”
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
“The die is cast in Canada: there are two ethnic and linguistic groups; each is too strong and too deeply rooted in the past, too firmly bound to a mother culture, to be able to swamp the other. But if the two will collaborate inside of a truly pluralist state, Canada could become a privileged place where the federalist form of government, which is the government of tomorrow’s world, will be perfected.”
Pierre Elliott Trudeau
That is all.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Now that’s funny!
Nice post though babe. Those quotes are definitely inspiring. You think I can be classed as a canadian yet??

Well, babe, let me say this. You need to drink more beer and have maple syrup on your pancakes.

Pffft, well Beer tastes like Dirty Dishwater, and Maple Syrup is definitely an acquired taste. As you well know, I hate the stuff.

A Golden World writes ” … intriguing quotes regarding Canada … ” at this post: A Golden World … Proud to be Canadian … only two days late and declares Canadi…

*Ahem* – neither Kokanee nor Stella Artois taste like dishwater. You’re confusing it with that rubbish called Newcastle Brown Ale.
As for Maple Syrup, try it more. You’ll soon agree it tastes better than Galaxy Chocolate.

I fixed up the Canada Day post, in case you didn’t see it since your comment.
Thank you,

Who does Canada belong to? Are you that fragile a country to be paranoid of “Americanization”?
Interesting. We Americans realize what little you know of us is distorted information. I’d rather know nothing about a country than follow the hype and feed off of stereotypes inciting more friction about the masses, but that’s just me.
I realize these aren’t your quotes, but at the same time you posted them so one is to assume you believe in them.
Thankfully not all Canadians are as smug as you.

Candy, still talking out your ass, aren’t you. Mind you, I can’t expect you to learn from a comment I left that was made AFTER this comment. Still, I don’t think it will change the fecal nature of your commentary.
For the first quote, try reading the wikipedia entry for Quebec. And while you do, assume that not every free thinking person on the planet wants to be a part of a cultural wasteland like the land south of 49.
For the second bit, the little we know about you (which is more than you’d like to admit) is much superior to zero knowledge that you’re lot has for us. Id est, a university world politics professor, at NYU, on one of Rick Mercer’s Talking to Americans segments signed a petition to stop the baby seal hunt in Saskatchewan.
Maybe you should think before you open your mouth (or type on your keyboard), as it seems only shit does come out.
