Gone fishing skiing…

Be back in a week (well, unless I find a hook up at Big White).
That is all.
P.S. If you miss me (which I doubt), help my city grow.

Well, seeing the events of this past week once again the reflection of my life in the Bucket, I find the words of Helena Cain very fitting for the nature of my soul. I know she commanded the Beast, but meh. It still works. As such:
You know this thing used to sit in our mess and eat our food, and listen to our stories. Didn’t you? You just sat there… listening to us, pretending to be our friend, didn’t you?
That is all.

Winter, simply put, is a quite dismal season. Even for us ‘winter types’, who enjoy curling, hockey and skiing, I still hate driving and dealing with the miserable weather day in and day out for four or so months. And the real kicker of the whole thing is this: no statuatory holidays. From May to December, every month has one. Victoria Day. Canada Day (though on the cusp of June and July). BC Day. Labour Day. Thanksgiving. Rememberance Day. And last but not least, the Pagan festival of Saturnalia, paying tribute to the birth of the Sun God, Sol Invictus. Or if you believe that in that whole Christ fairytale, Christmas. But our harshest months have no paid holidays (except for your vacation time if you take it… and I am).
So what can we do? In other provinces, such as Onterrible, they have recently invented ‘Family Day’ as a paid holiday. Fair enough. But being in BC, without said holiday, I’m far from impressed. And it really just doesn’t strike a chord with me. I’ve heard suggestions for Valentine’s Day, but that’s more work for the guys than their job. So it’s out.
CFOX got a proclamation from City Hall declaring 14 March Steak and BJ Day. Still not a paid holiday, but rather karma for the guys.
Which leaves only one solution. Today. St. Patrick’s Day. I do love Guiness’s Propostion 3-17 to get it as an internationally recognized holiday. Though I’d like to ammend it slightly. Give us the 18th off as well. My liver and head need serious recovery time.
I need to drink heavily now. That is all.

Vancouver, British Columbia. Home of the Canucks, and birthplace of Darth Vader, the best weed on the planet, and the current residence of the greatest evil known to mankind…

Right, evil grey ball of fluff Adina? Or should I say Shitbrick?
That is all.

Todd sent me this story, and it warms the cockles of my black, crusted lump of coal I have for a heart…
This will warm your heart, especially if you have lost faith in human kindness. This letter was sent to the principal’s office after an elementary school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An old lady had received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize, and was writing to say thank you. This story is a credit to all humankind.
Forward to anyone you know who might need a lift today!
Dear Faculty and Students,
God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizens’ luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at an Assisted Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away.
I am all alone now and it’s nice to know someone is thinking of me. God bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady.
My roommate is 95 and always had her own radio. Before I received this one, she would never let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day, her radio fell off the night stand and broke into alot of little pieces. It was awful and she was in tears.
She asked if she could listen to mine, and I said “fuck you.”
Thank you for that opportunity.
Sincerely, Agnes
Ahhh, I’m not alone.
That is all.

But alas, if your basic building blocks are lines and paint (like a ‘Toon) as opposed to molecules, genomes and cells (like organic matter), then there are just a different set of laws that govern you. Kind of like the difference between Canada and the United States (ed’s note, thank the Gods for Canada).
As many of you know, people piss me off. And by people, I do specifically intend how the collective tends to have a lower IQ than the state of Texas. And I saw that every intellectual flaw in the average person in the 21ST Century has a severe disconnect with cardinal laws of physics.
Then I had a bizzare flashback to University. Toon physics. The article I read in my inebriated days kept me in stitches. And without anything gigantic to post lately, I thought I’d share. Id est, two favourites:
Cartoon Law I
Any body suspended in space will remain in space until made aware of its situation.
Daffy Duck steps off a cliff, expecting further pastureland. He loiters in midair, soliloquizing flippantly, until he chances to look down. At this point, the familiar principle of 32 feet per second per second takes over.
Cartoon Law IX
Everything falls faster than an anvil.
Full list can be found here.
And, seeing as this is gratuitous filler, I would like to promote my MiniCity, New Delphi. Click the link (daily) and help my city grow. Hat tip to MCF for creating his own, and thus inspiring me to make my own.
That is all.

Really had to dig back for this one. Thanks to Paul (no site I know of aside from a Facebook page) for the email forward though.
I’d definitely like to see this as my desk if I ever strike it rich and famous.
That is all.

Ahh, classical Roman and Greek pagan civilization. 2000 years of seperation and still the western world is based almost solely on paganism, simply dressed up to worship a Jew nailed to wood rather than for Jupiter, or even Saturn (to whom Saturday is directly named for).
But alas, no need to expose the many flaws of Christianity. Rather, my own, as I had hopes to post more this week, but work has been kicking me in the bollocks more that I’ve been used to as of late. But, in an act of sheer spite, I figured it might be mirthfully ironic to photograph some of my favourite buildings in the warzone that has been dragging me down a bit this week.
So instead of continuing the ramble (or should that be rant), on with the photos:

For those not familiar with Vancouver, this is the Marine Building. It also stands in for the Baxter Building in the Fantastic Four films, as well as the front of the Daily Planet in Smallville.

Another view, this time looking north onto the building.

Front entrance. This is the part of the building that seems to be filmed most. Wonder why, eh?

Many details exist on this Art-Deco building, all done by hand.

Now past the Marine Building, I decided to try a long exposure on this water feature (this WITHOUT the use of a tripod, I might add).

I had this idea shooting the reflection in the 999 Hastings building (AXA Place). Yes all, it is photoshopped (I still have yet to see a camera that lets you do this in camera).
I do have more pics, but I’ll save them for another day.
That is all.
