I’m a screw up. Try to keep that in mind.

Nearly Daily Trivia v1.8 - The truly impossible edition

Posted by Jeff on Tuesday, 21 August, 2007

Congrats to Peter, who was first to respond that, in the last trivia edition, that failing to outdrive the lady’s tee involves a rather severe humiliation. Check the post for details.

As for this edition’s virtually unGoogleableTM question, I have to hat tip Neil Morrison (yes, Neil Morrison) for the inspiration.

This edition’s question:

Name at least three Western Canadian Rock bands from the flat province of Saskatchewan.

That is all.

Nearly Daily Trivia v1.7 - Why Captain Scotty will lead us all to… well, not salvation anyway…

Posted by Jeff on Thursday, 2 August, 2007

Congrats to Todd who did about 8,000 different searches until he realized that Jeff O’Neil, who, if you listen to his morning show on CFOX, is really a pale second fiddle to Captain Scotty, is who Kevin Bieksa credits for giving him the moniker ‘Boom Boom’.

Yes, Captain Scotty is funnier, more clever, and more original, than Mr. O’Neil. And as such, this trivia question is dedicated to the innovator of Bathtub Ballyhoo (listeners of CFOX will recognize why).

What must an adult male golfer do if he does not strike his drive further than the ladies tee?

This is not meant to be hard, for those insanely Googling.

That is all.

Nearly Daily Trivia v1.6 - the Offseason shopping for a mountain bike edition…

Posted by Jeff on Wednesday, 18 July, 2007

I think (read I think… not 100% convinced yet) that I have finally, yes FINALLY found a trivia question that Todd cannot answer via Google, or any other web search that exists out there. And seeing as I got such a rousing and plethora of response from the creative edition (sad that there are so few creative people), I shall now pose the question:

Who does Kevin Bieksa credit for giving him the moniker ‘Boom Boom’?

That is all.

Nearly daily trivia v1.5 - The creative edition

Posted by Jeff on Friday, 6 July, 2007

Well, hats almost off to MCF who guessed 5 of the 6 ‘Canadian skinjobs’ or Cylons performed by Canadian actors. Sadly, he missed number 8, or Boomer, or Athena (well, they’re all copies of the same model), portrayed by actress Grace Park. She was born in LA, but moved to Canada at 22 months of age (apparently with her family), and does have Canadian citizenship, and even considers herself Canadian.

I’m sure this is a striking point with many Americans as to why someone born on their soil would want to leave. And shockingly enough, she didn’t need a Bush family member to be convinced.

Secondly, since Todd seems to keep dictating that a quick Google search, which is still slower than my mental recall, seems to make the average Joe (including himself) smarter than me, I’ve decided to make this question an ESSAY question, and one that has no right or wrong answers.

Who is the twelfth and final Cylon, and give at least three points to defend your choice.

That is all.

Nearly daily trivia v1.4 - Sometimes you have to roll the hard six

Posted by Jeff on Saturday, 30 June, 2007

Wow. The whole daily thing (well, nearly daily) kinda fell off. Being caught up in the Benoit tragedy, coupled with my car needing work (and hence mile walks uphill AFTER physical days at work to take the SkyTrain home) really kills the desire to post, let alone come up with trivia which is difficult to Google (it’s kind of redundant to try anything conventional).

Which leads to Todd. After the last question, which I thought would be tough to find, Todd found an illegal internet copy of the WKRP episode. As such, he deserves a kick in the ass for that, and another for not even watching it to answer the question. Git.

As such, the answer was that Les was quoting the Hamlet ‘to be or not to be’ soliloquy, and the bonus was he wanted to know what fardels were (the line was ‘What do fardels bear?’). Fardels, in context, would be a burden.

Now for today’s question (though I won’t post more trivia until someone takes a stab, and my readership dies out over the weekend).

Name all Canadian skinjobs.

That is all.

Nearly daily trivia v1.3

Posted by Jeff on Thursday, 21 June, 2007

Well, it seems both Peter and Todd knew the end theme (and the beginning theme as well) for WKRP in Cincinnati was written by Jim Ellis. However, neither had the bollocks to actually go on record and say the song had no official title. As such, half points for each. They might have to choose Charis if they ever ventured to Vancouver and played Stump the Show.

But alas, the WKRP trivia reminded me of high school, when during long bus trips, it was a point of interest to quiz each other about the show. As such, I have another question from the show. But, hopefully, I will have hit a question which is far from easily google-able. As such, here is today’s question:

What does Les Nessman recite standing on a ledge?

Bonus points: What word does Mr. Carlson look up for Les during that point, and what is the meaning of said word?

That is all.

Nearly daily trivia v1.2

Posted by Jeff on Wednesday, 20 June, 2007

Well, congrats to Peter for knowing that The Gates of Hera, from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, was actually a shot of the Lions here in ever sunny Vancouver, BC.

Now for today’s question.

Name the title and composer to the song that runs during the end credits of WKRP in Cincinnati.

That is all.

Nearly daily trivia

Posted by Jeff on Sunday, 17 June, 2007

Gawd, I miss CFOX’s Damn Near Freakin’ Impossible Trivia. But, in the spirit of rekindling my nearly burnt blahg, I shall try to post a trivia question at least every other day.

And just for Peter, I’ll actually give away an answer to the lone unsolved question, just this once.

AGW Bloody Friggin Difficult Trivia Question 1

Now, onto today’s question:

What landmark was shot to be the Gates of Hera?

That is all.

Impossible Trivia Update

Posted by Jeff on Monday, 30 October, 2006

Well, as you may have read in the last Impossible Trivia post, Todd did remember that in August 1994 I went to the product placement festival known as Woodstock ‘94.

For actually having enough living brain cells to remember something from our post-secondary education (Ash and I sure as hell don’t have many brain cells left from our Queen’s days), I award you with a copy of a ticket to said event:

Woodstock ‘94 Ticket

Earlier today, James Mack demonstrated extreme prowess in Google and point and click. Okay, some prowess. He is “grudgingly” declining verbal fellatio in a comment where he tries to stroke his own ego. Let’s do a blow by blow (no pun intended) to see if he deserves verbal fellatio:

Question 2: As of my 21st birthday (which I spent drunk at one of the many institutions in Kingston, Ontario), what major professional sports franchise from North America (NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL) has won the most number of currently recognized championships, and how many had they won at that point?

James’ answer:

The Canadiens, with 23 at the time… I’m guessing at your age. :-)

Is he right? NO. The team is the Montreal Canadiens, though they didn’t have precisely 23 at the time. You know, by playing follow the link, you can actually figure out my date of birth. ‘Tis a shame. 0-1.

Question 3: According to one of the industries I worked for in temporary labour staffing this year, what do the letters IQF stand for?

James’ answer?

Individually quick frozen.

Is he right? YES. Though as a trivial point, it can be found with hit #1 on Google.

Question 5: Name five actors whom I have worked with on set.

James’ answer?

Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, Jensen Ackles, Tom Welling, Halle Berry.

Is he right? YES. Is he deserving of verbal fellatio? NO. Why? These five actors can all be found at my About Jeff page. More daring answers would be worthy of verbal fellatio. That list would include (but not be limited to) the following:

Anthony Michael Hall
Isla Fisher
Orlando Jones
Chi McBride
Nicholas Campbell
Joe Flanigan
Rachel Luttrell
James Marsters
Erica Durance
Allison Mack
Kristen Kruek
Michael Rosenbaum
Jared Padalecki

But meh.

Question 6: On the season premiere of Kenny vs. Spenny (the best reality televsion show EVER), First One To Laugh Loses, who is the first to laugh: Kenny Hotz, or Spencer Rice, and what is their humiliation.

James’ answer?

Fist to laugh was Kenny Hotz, and he had to eat one of Spenny’s freshly picked “boogers”.

Was he right? YES. Though his mispelling of FIRST disqualifies this response from verbal fellatio.

Question 7: Name all five actors who played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in some form in the Star Wars Saga.

James’ answer?

David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Hayden Christensen, Jake Lloyd and Sebastian Shaw.

Was he right? YES. But remember, this was a REALLY EASYTM question. Sadly again, no verbal fellatio.

Question 8: On last night’s episode of Kenny vs. Spenny, Who do gay guys like more?, who won? Kenny or Spenny? And what was the humiliation?

James’ answer?

Was a draw, Kenny and Spenny each got teabagged

Was he right? YES. Though to be more precise, both Kenny and Spenny lost, as the common gay date bailed and declared no choice between the two. The episode was worth it to see Spenny kiss the guy.

So, James, 5/6 isn’t bad, though the nature of your results do not grant you to even think you deserve verbal fellatio. As such, your reward is this:

Point and Click

Yes, the first image that comes up on Google when you search for “Point and Click”.

That is all.

Impossible Trivia v1.4

Posted by Jeff on Friday, 27 October, 2006

Wow. Todd got one right.

4. Recently a friend of mine I had lost touch with broke the long silence by posting a comment to this blog. While at our prolonged stay at a Kingston Institution, we made a trip to New York State in the summer of 1994. Why did we go?

And the answer? To attend Woodstock ‘94.

For answering the question correctly, I’ll post something Todd will appreciate tomorrow.

As for the rest of the gauntlet, here’s what remains unanswered:

AGW Bloody Friggin Difficult Trivia Question 1

1. Name the company who uses the above logo, and also state what they do. Company name MUST be hyperlinked.

2. As of my 21st birthday (which I spent drunk at one of the many institutions in Kingston, Ontario), what major professional sports franchise from North America (NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL) has won the most number of currently recognized championships, and how many had they won at that point?

3. According to one of the industries I worked for in temporary labour staffing this year, what do the letters IQF stand for?

Question 4, as stated, has been answered.

5. Name five actors whom I have worked with on set.

6. On the season premiere of Kenny vs. Spenny (the best reality televsion show EVER), First One To Laugh Loses, who is the first to laugh: Kenny Hotz, or Spencer Rice, and what is their humiliation.

Now, to appease my dear friend Peter, first a hint on question one.

The logo is for a company that is involved with my industry of choice for employment. In fact it even is directly related to my department of choice.

And, since I’ve been so busy as to post this week, I’ll give two REALLY EASYTM questions.

7. Name all five actors who played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in some form in the Star Wars Saga.

8. On last night’s episode of Kenny vs. Spenny, Who do gay guys like more?, who won? Kenny or Spenny? And what was the humiliation?

That is all. For now.
